there was something about being there…it felt pure
‘The Profound Bond’ - A new romantic comedy starring Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins. When Federal Agent Dean Winchester gets paired with an angel as part of the Bureau’s new Human-Angel Cooperation Initiative, the partnership seems less than ideal. Castiel is arrogant, painfully inept in the ways of normal human interaction, and less than stellar at routine questioning. But as time passes, the human and angel begin to find themselves growing less at odds and more endeared to each other. Loosely inspired by aesc’s Below Skyscrapers.
I am a little surprised no one mentioned what Dean actually says when he’s pleading with Cas. He says “We’re family. We need you”, thereby making a more general statement that encompasses Dean, Sam and Cas in some kind of brotherly relationship. But then he adds “I need you”, and I think that’s a game changer. Yes, he’s said it before (in Purgatory), but again, he’s reinforcing that they have a personal connection that goes beyond ideas of family, friendship, and all that jazz. Whether it’s romantic is up to personal interpretation, but in that scene, the personal, very intimate nature of their bond was definitely addressed.
Also, remember that family and love are very intimately connected in Dean’s way of thinking. Love outside the family, for Dean, is basically a big No because family also means trust, means not having to play pretend.
Granted, Dean didn’t say anything he hadn’t already said or implied before, but I still think it’s not entirely meaningless he settled on saying “I need you”, rather than sticking with “We need you” or “We‘re family”.
Time passes, kills everything In its path, and then it buries us in history. But, some bits, some bits seem to stick.
Oh, I thought that you and I could be a timeless thing. (x)

Like the Dead Sea
You told me I was like the Dead Sea
You’ll never sink when you are with me
Oh, Lord, like the Dead Sea
Whoa, I’m like the Dead Sea
The finest words you ever said to me
Honey can’t you see,
I was born to be, be your Dead Sea (x)
