★ Favorite CLAMP Characters // Kurogane

zelinxia:

Kurogane’s first time at Yuuko’s shop versus his second time.

What a difference four kids, a manjuu bun, and (especially) a certain mage can do. <3

(Inspired by the set for Fai by mitsutsuki.)

osakakitty:

Here’s another thing I noticed.

At first while reading this, you might think, ‘maybe Kurogane’s just an eerily morbid person when it comes to death. He does seem to have a rampant bloodlust and unhealthy obsession with killing things.’ However, he doesn’t look as serious as he does depressed. Even Syaoran notices something’s up.

100+ chapters later, you realize, holy shit, that’s how his father died.

Faces of Kurogane - Surprised

Faces of Kurogane - Annoyed/Irritated

Kurogane - More Smiles (Chapter Covers)

Something like handing over my life in exchange for something… I won’t do that. Not anymore.

It’s not that I don’t think that the other couples aren’t in love, but CLAMP’s couples have something more than just the romantic side. They’re humans that fit each other perfectly. Real soulmates. You don’t see many kisses in CLAMP’s works, or confessions because their relationships are so much more than that. They kind of know. Or it simply doesn’t matter. Their love is much, much bigger.

Well, these ladies tend to make a big deal out of confessions too. But generally speaking I agree - neither confessions nor physical intimacy (kisses, for example) are the point of these couples, CLAMP often shows us completely different, sometimes a bit more mature, but usually pretty messed up haha side of the relationships. And that’s exactly why no one will ever convince me that Kurogane/Fay isn’t canon. Even from the objective standpoint (I’ve been shipping them for almost 6 YEARS, usually in such cases obsession fades away and common sense kicks in at a certain point) it’s still obvious to me that they were basically meant for each other. Do people really need a silly confirmation of their feelings? Can you even imagine either of these characters actually saying “I love you”? Because I have a hard time doing so. As far as I remember Kurogane never openly says he cares about the children, he usually expresses the urge to “hit” them or just… is there for them in moments of crisis, and yet no one ever questions this part of his character. That’s just the way he is - he speaks through action and damn, if all the sacrifices he’s made for Fay aren’t convincing enough then I have… nothing to add, really. As for the stupid magician - coming to accept and return Kurogane’s feelings was one of the major points of his character development, imo. And we know he finally succeeded. I could go on and on and explain why I absolutely can’t see them as ‘just friends’… but yeah, let’s leave it for now.
Oh, and also? CLAMP just looooves to cocktease their readers. You know they do.
