Day 8 - Your top three favorite Vocaloid PVs
Ugh, too difficult…

1. “Nisoku Hoku/Two Breaths Walking” (akka & mirto) - these incredibly talented girls are behind many beautiful PVs of DECO’s song, but Nisoku Hokou will forever be my number one. why? the black, red, white color scheme. Besides personally I think it has the best art direction out of all of their videos and is just so wonderfully executed.

2. “Just Be Friends” (Yunomi) - I don’t really care about all the drama surrounding Yunomi and I still adore her artstyle, even though huge shoujo eyes are usually a big turn-off for me. This PV is simple, clean and pretty and manages to make you emotionally invested in main couple’s love story in only 5 minutes! that’s pretty amazing if you ask me.

3. “Meltdown” (nagimiso)  - there’s something about this PV that makes you both fascinated and strangely depressed at the same time. I’d call it… feeling of loneliness, I guess? Don’t forget about the logo design made by MIWA SHIROOOOOOOW damn i’m such a hopeless fangirl.

BONUS: Unhappy Refrain” (Magic Pen) - because I’m a huge sucker for kinetic typography and wowaka’s music works only with this type of videos.

Day 7 - Your favorite song from your favorite Vocaloid
Looks like my answer to 5th question wasn’t enough. “Fav song from your least favourite vocaloid” would’ve made more sen— OKAY STOP COMPLAINING CROFE THIS IS NOT YOUR MEME you idiot, sometimes I just can’t with you.

cough well at least I have an opportunity to mention my beloved vocaloP I forgot about before - livetune aka kz. Thanks to this guy I began to dig deeper into the world of vocaloids, research more and as a result, I started looking for songs from specific artists rather than randomly choose them based on thumbnails or number of views or whatnot. Yes, I basically started to care and be aware as well as recognize and appreciate the work of people behind this type of music. Livetune’s magic does wonders. His electronic cheerful tunes fit robotic, computer synthesized voice of Miku so damn well it’s nearly impossible to make a good covers of his songs. His glorious mixing, editing and tuning skills make his pieces even more pleasant to listen to. It’s a great pity he isn’t so active on NND anymore, but I guess he’s trying to go full pro now ??? well this obviously makes me incredibly proud and I wish him luck HOWEVER his collab with ClariS (OreImo’s OP song) proves that kz without Miku just… doesn’t work for me. But then again I’m just biased so ignore me please.

My favourite from kz isn’t however an upbeat, optimistic song but a rather calm but powerful ballad called “last night, good night”. It might sound a little silly, but to me Miku sounds almost… angelic in it and in some parts her voice gives me actual goosebumps. Plus a badass PV with art by redjuice, another legend in this fandom.

Too bad it’s so so difficult to find utaite who can hit such high notes. As I said before - livetune’s music is uncoverable.

— SORRY ABOUT THE WALL OF TEXT WRITTEN IN POOR ENGRISH —
Day 6 - Most overrated Vocaloid songThe term ‘overrated’ is so… overrated. No, really, I dislike it so much. It gets thrown around way too much and is being so often used as an offence by people who are either too lazy/stupid/arrogant to come up with good arguments or who truly think others shouldn’t have their own opinions and shouldn’t find value in certain thing just because they hated it. Yeah, I know, using this word is not exactly stating a fact but more like… another way of saying that you personally don’t like something, but still - this is the Internet, you should be careful with words because it’s so so easy to look like an elitist asshole here. Besides there are nicer ways of expressing your opinion.
Sure, sometimes I do wonder about for example Soraru’s appeal, buuut at the same time I know he worked hard to get where he is now and I respect that. Also, I’m aware of the fact that we all have different tastes and that’s the beauty of music! Besides I don’t even have the right to tell people what they shouldn’t like because I know absolutely NOTHING about the music theory, not gonna lie. However I have to admit that sometimes I get extremely butthurt when some artists are underappreciated, but that’s a whole nother story.
Actually, it’s pretty awesome my friends and I have different taste in music because that means I can be introduced to new musicians or maybe even change my opinion about an artists I’m not too fond of. I’m quite flexible and don’t stick to my guns like an idiot. not all the time, at least. Well, that’s what happened in hachi’s case - when I was younger, still stupid and ignorant (about 2 years ago pfft) I used to think he’s so. freaking. overrated omg go to hell hachi!!11 His songs were just too loud and chaotic for me. But then I discovered vgperson’s glorious website and HOLY SHIT. The more I read about this producer, the more I became fascinated by him and now I truly believe he’s a genius and if he ever decided to take over the world I’d gladly become his loyal follower. I started to see his works in different light, then Matryoshka happened and… yeah, he’s one of my favourites now. Passion is contagious, believe me!
Don’t get me wrong though, I don’t look down on people who use this word… as long as they’re not too full of themselves and don’t offend anyone!
tl;dr - I just don’t want to answer this question.

Posting it now, because I missed one day of the meme whoops.

Day 5 - Your top five favorite Vocaloid songs of all time
I don’t really rank the things I enjoy, so I’ll just list the ones that first come to my mind. These are the songs that are good enough by themselves and don’t need any fancy covers to make them better (at least in my opinion, obviously). it narrows down my options a bit.

1. “World’s End Dancehall”/”Unhappy Refrain” (wowaka with Miku/Luka) - a tie, because after staring at screen for like 15 minutes I still can’t choose between them. B-but wait, I like “Toosenbo” too…  damn you, wowaka for being so brilliant.  btw, I don’t think Miku’s voice is THAT high pitched in his pieces, am I the only one?

2. “Kami no Namae ni Ochiru Mono” (kaoling with Miku) - insert: huge boner for breathing vocaloids, incredible mixing and irish sounding songs.

3. “Happy Very Happy” (Pinocchio-P with Miku) - oh how I love the tuning in this one.

←4. “Saboten to Shinkirō” (Jakkan-P with Miku) - pretty sure there isn’t a single bearable cover of it. well I don’t even need one, the original is perfect anyway. watch it and sob for hours, the video is subbed.

5. “free” (AVTechNO with Luka and Len) - I had to choose something with different vocaloids in an attempt to not look like a total Mikufag, pfft. jk jk, I adore AVTechNO, even though his lyrics often don’t make any sense at all. the music is epic so who cares!

I’m russian style 140% sure I forgot about billions of other amazing songs and I’ll facepalm hard later on but whatevs. also, GJ at ruining audio YouTube, you should get an award or something.

Day 4 - Your favorite producerHEH easy one. wowaka, of course. There are many vocaloPs I admire, yukkedoluce, hachi, DECO*27 or Kobayashi Onyx just to name few, but the only vocaloid CD I own is godwaka’s and that means a lot. My relationship with music is a bit complicated - I’m very open minded when it comes to genres, but as a result I get bored pretty fast and easily. Usually there are up to 4 songs from the same artist that I actually like but rest of their works seem too meh for me so I just… move on.
However, it’s completely different in the world of vocaloid music, especially in wowaka’s case. I can honestly say that I’m addicted to MOST of the songs he’s released so far and I’ll probably never get tired of them. You may say he’s unoriginal and all of his tracks sound the same - yes, I won’t deny that there’s some pattern in his works but for some reason it doesn’t bother or bore me at all! as a matter of fact, I like how his songs are easily recognizable while still being original and special on their own. my love for this guy is too difficult to explain, mostly because even I don’t really get it EMOTIONS, HOW DO THEY WORK
fun fact: I discovered him through the flawless cover of “Uraomote Lovers” by Fukuwa. immediately got internet married to both of them.

Day 3 - Your least favorite Vocaloid and why
Let’s say… Kagamine Len (if I had to choose from the most popular vocaloids because I honestly don’t care about Pikoloid and his little friends). It’s not that I dislike his voice all that much, there just aren’t too many memorable songs voiced by him. at least for me! Also, producers often don’t tune him very well.

That, and … uhm, I’m not into shota. To be honest, I usually despise typical shota characters and that’s the reason why no one will ever convince me to watch Inazuma Eleven. sorry, judging anyone by appearance, even fictional characters is kind of immature, but sometimes I just can’t help it.

However I liked his Yumekui Shirokuro Baku, for example.

Day 2 - Your favorite Vocaloid and whyMiku, obviously. She’s a perfect combination of cuteness and awesome, what’s there not to like?
Seriously though, Miku was the first vocaloid I fell in love with and I had already been obsessed with her songs before Gumi and Luka (my 2nd and 3rd favourite vocaloids) were even released! The fact that she’s the most popular one and the ‘face’ of vocaloid without having any canon personality makes it even better - anyone can see whatever the hell they want in her, associate different feelings with her because of the songs or just see her as a personification of future technology. I’m truly glad I found her and thus became a tiny part of this amazing world that has made my life so much more colorful. since almost the very beginning I’ve been watching her grow and can’t help but be so… proud of my sweet little Virtual Diva. is this what it feels like when you’re a mom?
So yeah, she’s my beautiful waifu and that’s it.

Day 1 - The first Vocaloid song you heard and/or the song that got you into Vocaloid
The first one I heard was the famous cover of “Ievan Polkka” with Hachune. Frankly speaking it didn’t impress me one bit, because back then I already hated the loituma meme and this whole leekspin thing with a burning passion. However I had already seen pictures of Hatsune Miku floating around and found her design to be incredibly cute (actually I still think it’s be best one I’ve ever seen). buuut without doing any proper research I just assumed she’s from some manga or game and it’s just “not for me”. I often do that, unfortunately.

Two months later while reading Random Curiosity, ohgodImissOmnihewasthebestanimeblogger, I stumbled upon a poll about Vocaloid (I don’t usually read or even notice them so it must’ve been FATE right) and for some reason got interested enough to actually do some googling. This is when I found ryo’s “Melt”, two weeks after its release on NND. wow that’s kinda shocking even for me. I fell so so much in love with this song it’s embarrassing to admit. So yeah, I’ve been a fan of vocaloid and a Mikufag for over 4 years now!
